About Zum

Zum’s best selling Zum Bar Goat’s Milk Soap is made with just a few plant-based, simple ingredients: saponified 100% food grade olive oil, coconut, palm, and castor oils (to make a soap that cleanses without drying) in a goat’s milk base (to add an extra moisturizing factor), herbs, pure essential oils, fragrance oil, and aloe ferox to keep your skin smelling great all day. Frankincense Myrrh is the most popular scent, but there are plenty of other naturally and deliciously scented options: rosemary mint, sea salt, tangerine orange, lavender & mint, coffee almond, eucalyptus, anise lavender, and more.

Zum bar soaps are made using the same method they’ve always used since Indigo Wild began producing them: using cold-process soapmaking, Zum bar soaps are poured, swirled, labeled, and packed by hand.

The History of Zum

Zum’s headquarters are in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District. Kansas City is where Zum – “rhymes with “hum” – first began. In 1996, Emily Voth started Indigo Wild, crafting goat’s milk soap that she and her husband would sell at local Kansas City farmers’ markets in their free time (in between day jobs). Indigo Wild first started with products like coconut facial creams, citrus room mists, and lip balm. Soon, they would create the Zum bar (named when someone said the phrase, “That sure is ZUM bar of soap!”), and the rest is history. The popularity of the Zum bar led to the creation of Zum Laundry Soap, Hand Soap, Mist, Candles, and more.

Today, 2.5 million Zum Bar goat’s milk soaps are sold every year.
